Netflix is the only online DVD rental that works for me. I tried Blockbuster but I went back to Netflix because of the selection. Since I am a Filipino, I look for tagalog movies on netflix all the time and I like their titles compared to blockbuster. When I signed up, I listed all the movies that I missed on theatre and forget about them, all 200 titles of them.
One thing I like about their new AJAX thing is the mini-queue feature where you can drag and drop DVD you just added on any top TEN of your queue. It’s not the whole thing that I wish they had but only top 10 queues listed on the right side of the page.
The question now is… Where is it? I haven’t logged in and added any movie for about 6 weeks so I Google-d any article or blog that’s related but there’s none …yet. Maybe there is but I just have not seen because who knows when did this got pulled out.

For a while I have been locked to Yahoo Messenger on sending messages to my friends in the Philippines. I’ve known Chikka for a while but for some reasons I cannot install the client on my pc so I just use the Java client. Still not effective for me cuz it is not that stable. My phone is capable of doing that but SMS from Phils to US is expensive; not all my friends could afford that. Now, this new Chikka installs quickly and no problem connecting to their servers albeit it does disconnect when I’m idle for so long. I can even send txt loads to any cellphone provider back home.
Oh well, that’s the cheapest way of doing it for me. If only they use email on everyday basis like the rest of us. Chikka got disconnected twice as I write this entry. It’s free, what else can I say.

This is a tagalog comment or review for a Filipino Movie on Netflix titled Milan. What’s make this different from others, I put some tagalog (Philippine Language) words and Netflix approved it. Netflix should hire or maybe they already have some employees on this department to allow other languages to be used on movie reviews. It’s not that fun to write a review in English on a movie if it has a foreign language content. Also I would like to see a search for language or have a Philippine category on their site because right now it’s hard to find new titles released back home on their catalog. I just go by actors or directors if they have a new DVD that’s out there. Lately there has not been any new titles coming out on Netflix made in the Philippines.

Okay, this is another mobile phone post but I got to say this about TV on your phone. I do not watch TV on a regular basis, on some boring weekends I would just grab a set of episodes and do a marathon of missed TV shows. MobiTV is a paid Axcess (BREW) service for $9.99 / mo that lets you watch Live TV broadcasts on your video capable phone. I tried to look better reviews on the net but was unfortunate so I just purchased it and experience start playing with it. At first, I was really in doubt of how the quality it will look like because our area (Greensboro, NC) does not have the EVDO …yet. How can just a regular 1x connection stream a video content? I thought it’s not possible. When I start the MobiTV, the sound quality is good; it is acceptable for a RAZR v3c phone. The video quality is a little pixilated but what do you expect on a tiny screen. It is comparable though to rocketboom video which is the only downloadable content that I know of at this time. And every few secs (between 15-20), the video will pause and continue itself, maybe that’s the buffering. If you are watching news this could be annoying for you would miss some of the words being broadcast.
These are the channels currently offered to Alltel Customers through Axcess:
- 01 MSNBC
- 02 NBC Mobile
- 03 Discovery
- 04 TLC
- 05 ABC News
- 06 FOX Sports
- 07 CNBC
- 08 MobiTrailers
- 09 ESPN
- 15 V40 Top Hits
- 16 The Mic HipHop
- 17 Shift Altern.
- 18 Chaos Extreme
- 20 Maxx Sports
- 21 Comedy Time
- 22 Fashion TV
- 23 CNET
- 24 Discovery Kids
- 25 The Weather Channel
- 28 ToonWorld TV
- 29 Discovery Espanol
- 35 iFilm Viral Videos
- 38 NanoTV
- 46 CSPAN
- 47 CSPAN2
- 50 MobiTV Promo
Quite a long list and I have not seen all of them yet. Hopefully EVDO comes out soon so I’ll be able to play more of mobile web services instead of BREW apps.
MobiTV is a good time killer and alternative to radio. All my co-workers were impressed with me having a phone that is capable of watching TV, it’s a good thing.

For a while I have been keeping my Motorola T720 and holding up from buying a new phone. 2 weeks ago I purchased RAZR V3c with Alltel (love the service and phone was on sale) and since then I have not stopped playing with it. We had an activity in our church and I took lots of pictures. One hassle, no expansion slot for flash media. Taking 1.3MP shots is not the best idea, phone lags and it only has 40MB internal memory. Scratches… I got that after combining my keys with the phone in my pocket. So I went to eBay and found about this InvisibleShield. Awesome product, I recommend it to everyone.
Yesterday, my sister wanted to have a new phone because she cannot get any music ringtone; only polyphonic. So she got the Audiovox 8910, it’s a decent phone. It has built-in flash camera, speakerphone, web axcess but no video.
My little sister was going to take the Virgin Mobile phone but it has not been active for more than 90days so most likely the account (phone number) will be deleted. I thought that she will be using it more often and it is not worth buying a prepaid phone for her so she’s now part of the Family Plan. I need to monitor her usage though. She is just a seven year-old kid with a camera phone (Audiovox 8910). I got my first cellphone when I was 13 and it’s not even colored yet; not even SMS capable. It was an ANALOG!! I pick this model because my other sibs had been using it for a year and had not have any problems at all; better yet, I found a hack on transferring ringtone to this phone.
We all now have mobile phones and I’m thinking… do we still need VoIP phone? I guess so because we use it on international calling.

Thank God for I have time today to move my blog from Blogger. Wordpress imports blogger entries (posts and comments) seamlessly, gotta love that feature. It includes the dates when you entered it as well. Now I have to assign categories to them. My blogger was sitting from my server so I could not just install wordpress in the same folder it was in. Here’s what I did:
- I first moved my blogger BACK to google’s own server. I removed the FTP publishing and took back franciszape.blogspot.com URI.
- Cleaned up the blog folder on my server and install wordpress.
- After installing, Importing from blogger is just easy (enter username and password and your’e done in few seconds).
Hopefully I would have time to install some cool plugins tomorrow.

I’m switching blogging tool to Wordpress. Blogger works best on people who blog on just a specific area. There’s no categories here and no plugins to play with. Bye bye blogger.
I still don’t know how to export my posts to wordpress and I haven’t really installed it on my server. Once it’s done… just go visit franciszape.com
