Since I installed OpenDNS, I have had websites that are blocked due to it falls under adult-themed sites. For example, myspacecdn.com domain is being used as photos by Myspace. Everytime I visit myspace, pictures don’t show up. I had to turn off some of my Adult Blocking filters on OpenDNS’ Dashboard just to view the site properly. Thankfully, now there’s whitelist. Whitelist allows you to visit domains regardless of any content filtering.

So I wanted to post thru my mobile phone on my facebook. Basically I want to blog on wordpress inside facebook. Unfortunately, I have my own site hosted and I don’t have a wordpress account. The wp application on facebook only allows users with wp accounts. If you’re running wordpress on your blog, it won’t work on Facebook app (as of this post).
So I used twitter instead, but, twitter is so simple for me. I consider it just for “micro-blogging”. I wish to have a portal for everything and I feel like facebook would do it for people like me. And how come facebook still not supporting ALLTEL? Alltel is always left behind
Yes, it’s so sad for us Alltel customers. Although, thanks to them, I now have EVDO in our area. Finally, after 2 years of waiting.

After spending much of my time surfing the internet and helping friends and family on fixing their computers, network and spyware removals, I decided to why not offer it to others in the community. Some people can’t afford to pay somebody $25 or more per hour to fix their PC. I am offering my service for free. Yes, FREE, only via email for now. I can help them with their computer problems via email, chat or phone or even remote control. In the future, I might do this as a full time job and get an my own office and not my house.
I posted an ad on our local paper and hopefully emails will start coming in. Why am I excited about this? I want to know how to be the tech support of the community and knowing that I am helping other people on their digital experience is a big accomplishment to me. It is priceless.

I was looking for a good backup or sync-ing app that will organize all my files across the network and I stumble upon this service. It is called FolderShare which got acquired by Microsoft. I heard this before on command-N but for some reasons I did not install it. It could have been still not publicly available. I love SyncToy but one of my PC cannot run it –go figure. I load it, run it, shared with some friends, it ROCKS!! File sharing within your group, legally. I don’t see any slow down on the server side as of now with only two users logged in to my folder.
This could be a killer of orb if not for java. It requires java to run the web access. My phone does not support java, even orb do not work well because some webpages has huge file and will not load properly. My rants with orb will be discussed next time.

If you have heard of Peerflix already, you’ll love this new CD trading service by Lala. Lala works by YOU trading your own CD library and for every CD you trade you get one from your WANT LIST. It is the same as Peerflix but you just cannot buy your trading points (peerbux on Peerflix). Lala still on beta so invite only guys. But tell you what, I signed up to get the invite and after 3 days I received the invite and I’m in!!
The selection is good and the user interface is neat. It also shows users who also listen to that album. It has better user interaction compared to Netflix. You can say any blurbs to that user, turn it into conversation or request any CDs as well. When you view the album, like any other music store, you can preview a 30-sec audio clip.
I’ll definitely list some of my CDs I want to trade here. I hope Filipinos will see this service and trade some OPM (Original Pilipino Music). I have been longing to have this service and to see OPM albums… oh my, that will be AWESOME!! My username on Lala is kycz if you want to check out my collection. If it’s empty, that means I am being lazy. I have not listed but 2 on my list when I wrote this entry.

Netflix is the only online DVD rental that works for me. I tried Blockbuster but I went back to Netflix because of the selection. Since I am a Filipino, I look for tagalog movies on netflix all the time and I like their titles compared to blockbuster. When I signed up, I listed all the movies that I missed on theatre and forget about them, all 200 titles of them.
One thing I like about their new AJAX thing is the mini-queue feature where you can drag and drop DVD you just added on any top TEN of your queue. It’s not the whole thing that I wish they had but only top 10 queues listed on the right side of the page.
The question now is… Where is it? I haven’t logged in and added any movie for about 6 weeks so I Google-d any article or blog that’s related but there’s none …yet. Maybe there is but I just have not seen because who knows when did this got pulled out.

For a while I have been locked to Yahoo Messenger on sending messages to my friends in the Philippines. I’ve known Chikka for a while but for some reasons I cannot install the client on my pc so I just use the Java client. Still not effective for me cuz it is not that stable. My phone is capable of doing that but SMS from Phils to US is expensive; not all my friends could afford that. Now, this new Chikka installs quickly and no problem connecting to their servers albeit it does disconnect when I’m idle for so long. I can even send txt loads to any cellphone provider back home.
Oh well, that’s the cheapest way of doing it for me. If only they use email on everyday basis like the rest of us. Chikka got disconnected twice as I write this entry. It’s free, what else can I say.

Web 2.0 is where everybody is going. I was searching for some photo hosting solutions for my eBay selling idea to catch more eyes on my store. Flickr is faster than my web hosting provider but there might be some exceptions on hosting your stuff over their service (haven’t read their entire TOS yet). eBay on the other hand does not have any tagging. I came upon this new site ETSY -beta- has a cool awesome design and I was blown away. I did not hear any about this only until it showed up on Google for “flickr and eBay” results. I might give it a try. Free store, flat fees: $0.10 per item & 3.5% commission and your own URL (yourstore.etsy.com). You’ll sure be amazed with the website, so go check it out.
